Wow, can't believe how much fun it was doing so little! This is going to be a truly great adventure Joey and I are embarking on.
As Joey indicated, I practiced painting on a Heroquest model. I know what your thinking 'That isnt Warhammer 40k!', but trust me, it was very similar in structure and I want to have a couple practice models before I begin painting my Black Reach army I should be getting soon. I can't believe how time consuming painting is going to be. I spent a good 30 minutes just putting on a black undercoat. However, while visiting a local Alien Worlds we discovered that there is a way to spray paint an undercoat on, which should save tons of time.
Next weekend there should be more updates, and hopefully a game will have been played. As usual all this depend on what life throws at Joey and me this week!

Finally started...
Tonight was something. Ethan and I actually got to sit down and start putting together the models.
Well, he was practicing how to paint on one of my Heroquest models. It came out pretty good for a first start.
I was getting my starter set put together. I did the Space Marines first and it turned out pretty well.
Here is the first figurine...
Here are all the Space Marines done with the wreckage. My wonderful wife took this picture. It was really good, looks like they are ready to defend against the hive!
I was going to start on the Tyranid models, but it was getting late and only did just one. More to come...

Are we playing...
As you all read through these posts, you may wonder, there is lots of talk of getting started but nothing of actually doing it. It seems frustrating but, as Ethan and I have full time jobs and many other family obligations, finding time is rather daunting.
I hope that once we stop "collecting" and finally get "started", it would be worth the wait. At least I think so.
Ethan told me that he purchased the starter set, Assault on Black Reach. It is in the mail so we hope to check that out soon. Pics anyone?
Anyways, now time to showcase my latest finds. The current White Dwarf magazine (Feb 2011), a box set of Necron warriors, and a Citadel Palette.
...and the collection gets a little bigger!!

Plus one to the stack...
New setting, same excitement!
Well, as Joey mentioned, we will be switching over to Warhammer Fantasy instead of 40k. Now, Joey and I will still be building a 40k army, it just may take some more time due to the wives/fiance preferring the Warhammer Fantasy setting. With both of them on board on our Warhammer club has turned into a 5 person group.
In any case, we are still extremely excited about the fantasy setting, especially some of the scenery that we will be building and putting together! I also can't wait to learn more on the dwarfs and what their strengths, weaknesses and history is! I have always played dwarf characters in any game that allows it, so this is really exciting for me! I believe Ashley (fiance), will be playing the Dark Elfs. She likes Elfs and loves how the Dark Elfs are a matriarchal society.

Not the same one...
I was surprised that my wonderful wife was into the Warhammer venture Ethan and I were getting into. However, she is more inclined to Warhammer Fantasy, not 40K. Not to fear. Since they are pretty much the same game, just have slight rule differences between units, I can do both. We were at out local game hobby store for quite a while discussing different options and how to go about getting her on board Warhammer and getting a fantasy starter set.
Even though now I have to split the efforts between two separate games instead of focusing all the resources to one, it is good that she is on board. Plus I was curious about the Fantasy aspect of it. Who knows, I might like it more than 40K... we shall see. Just more stuff to buy now.
I got her this nice 6th edition Warhammer rulebook for her to thumb through real cheap(thanks Half Price!). She is still deciding on which army to start with.

White Dwarf what...
While I was pondering my next move at the game hobby store, I came across this magazine, White Dwarf. I remember someone mentioned it to me when I was asking around about 40K but they made it sound like the magazine was not published anymore. Just bad hearing on my part I guess.
I flipped through it and it had lots of 40K info, tips, all kinds of game results and strategies. Even though it included Warhammer Fantasy and Lord of the Rings, all the tactics and methods are the same. Sweet. I can apply these and learn of new things as the magazines come out!! And... I liked it.
Well, I picked up January's issue as well as last December's. It was cheap, so why not!
